AFI's Top 100

One of my on-going goals has been to watch all 100 of the American Film Institute's top rated movies. These are ground-breaking movies, the best of all time, they say! Shouldn't we all want to watch them with that kind of critical acclaim? I can't say that I've loved everything I've watched so far (some of these are as bad as watching paint dry) but I continue, in the sake of self-improvement and education (yeah, that's it) my private screenings.

I'm highlighting the movies I've watched in yellow in order to mark them off this list. So far, the most surprising feature of my movie-adventures has been identifying where some of the most repeated, famous quotes come from. You know, like, "I coulda been a contender!", and of course, "There's no place like home!". It's amazing how much we quote as a society, and yet have no idea of the origins! Another added bonus to watching these movies of yesteryear is that I get to see the actors and actresses of whom my elders raved about when I was a kid. I recognize the irony of watching these vintage icons via the use of Netflix and my I-pad and wonder what my grandparents would think of this technology-history clash.

Well, it's time to pull up a couch-cushion, and watch another flick. Are any of your favorites on the list below? Mine is!
