Day 150

It's day 150 since the COVID-19 "lock down" began and school has started back up for some. Spiced Pumpkin flavored everything is sneaking it's way back into the world (despite my disdain for it). Halloween candy has littered the store shelves for weeks. Leaves are starting to fall and my chrysanthemum has buds! These are all signs of the Fall season ahead, but where did summer go? Even though we have over a month more of summer to go, it seems wrong that the season is coming to a close without having experienced any of the typical "summery" events. No concerts, no major vacations, no festivals and no Cubs games - I mean, can we really even call this a summer then?

Hopefully if you've had plans postponed or cancelled you've been able to reschedule or find other ways to celebrate the sun, all be it a lot different than expected. What are some things you've had to change or postpone? What have you done to take advantage of the warm weather? Have you dared to travel, if so where and how?

Day 148

Do you ever find yourself perfectly happy, and then all the sudden the "I shoulds" start in? You know, the "I should be doing more" or the "I should be doing something different"? So then you start changing things around to fit in all the things you "should" be doing, only to realize it makes you miserable? If you've fallen victim to this, as I recently have, I give you full permission to dump those scheduled "shoulds" and do what it is that makes you happy! Yes, this is your Tuesday reminder to KISS - keep it simple and sweet! (You thought I was going to say stupid, didn't ya?)

Day 145

"Show me your friends and I'll show you your future."

I am grateful for those in my circle who help to inspire me by just being themselves. They don't have to cheer me on, they don't have to reach out and pat me on the back. They simply elevate me (and others I presume) by just working on bettering themselves and being a good example. They don't brag. They aren't competing with you. They just "are".

I hope you are surrounded by people who inspire you and move you to be a better version of you than you were yesterday. I hope you have people in your life that get you out of bed and excited about the things you should be doing. I hope you have friends and family who lift you up and inspire you. Gravitate towards those who reflect where you want to be and share common goals and go get after yours! The world is big enough for us all to share the limelight.

Monday

Yesterday I got up early and went for a 40 minute walk. Outside. It was 8 degrees. Sadly, this is just the start of the brutal Chicago winte...
